.. or at the very least turn them off & remove the battery. Damage
threshold is MUCH higher when un-powered (RF can cause CMOS latch-up
in powered devices). Remember that most devices like this don't really
turn 'OFF', but just go to sleep, hence the advice to remove the
battery.
