Secondary wire size

I was lucky enough to get ahold of 10 to 12 gauge (I haven't
measured it yet) enameled Cu wire that I plan to wrap a secondary coil
with. I realize that a larger wire size lowers resistance and ups the
'Q'
factor- so I'm hoping to increase the ultimate output (isn't everyone?).

It seems like most coils use between #28 and #16. My question is, then,
does anyone have experience with such a heavy gauge?

Thanks in advance, Brandon M Doughan
