It makes no difference why 30 degrees is used. it is a matter of coupling
for a desired purpose.  You can use anything from 0 to 90 degrees if you
know what you are doing.  There are no magic angles.

I like 0 degrees for small systems and 30 degrees for big 2 coil systems and
90 degrees for magnifier drivers.
