Soda bottle are made out of polyethylene. I had a idea once to cut the ends
off of soda bottles and cut the cylinder down the middle and open it up to
make a flat sheet of plastic because I couldn't find any poly thicker than
.006 mils thick to make a capacitor. After cutting 1 bottle and trying it I
changed my mind. The wall thickness of the bottle are uneven because they
are made in a blow mold. About 90% of the bottle is about the same
thickness within .001 but they have several thick and thin spots.
