varia, of metal powders, and other metal banging




I will crave Chip's indulgence to return to an issue of safety:

	ALL FINE METAL POWDERS ARE FLAMMABLE.

Treat them with great care.  How Fine is fine?  Varies.  Finest commerically
available powders can be hazardous in air, in specific circumstances.  In
general, common shop work will not produce fine enough powder to be flammable.

SPARKS are such a special circumstances.  I've had friends hurt by this &
would not like anyone here walk in unawares to THAT.

Plating:
Plating used to be done with batteries, and even more arcane sources.  each
metal and each substrate has its own quirks: how much current density (amps per
sq ft) etc, etc,

Trivia:
many tractor tires are filled with water, normally, for added weight for
traction.  SALT water for winter work...
