You may have seen a discussion earlier on fireballs.
The Corum brothers have apparently done this but
Richard Hull and friends were unable to replicate the
results.

The was an article in a recent Wireless World, suggesting
a mechanism for ball lightning. It argued that after a lightning
strike it would take the ground some time to disapate the
charge, leaving an electric field large enough
to sustain ionisation. This could explian why ball lightning
appears to hover above the ground and move in apparently
random directions driven by the decaying electric field from
the ground.

Did anyone here see the Corum's demonstration?
